“Be the change you want to see in the world”. These words keep me motivated and are a driving force in my day to day activities.
My name is John Bosco Babu Yanta, I am 29 years old and currently working with Diani Ulezi Rainbow Foundation (D.U.R.F) as a social worker / Manager. For the last 8 Years I have being working for different child based organizations as a social worker. The urge working for these specific types of organizations is because I would like to serve alongside the oppressed and most vulnerable regardless of their ethnic background, religion or gender.
Currently I am working on helping the children and families of a small community in the South Coast region of Kenya called Mabatani msambweni to eradicate jiggers from their homes, by doing so the children will concentrate better in class and thus help the families to have a healthier life. D.U.R.F built a school in the community which is of great help to the children of the community.
The school has three class rooms, KG1, KG2 and KG3. We have a plan to expand the school and have three more class rooms, but before that we would like to build a class room for the children who unfortunately did not get to go to nursery school and they are passed that age, so that they can also get a chance to advance their education.
We also plan on constructing a child friendly playground in the compound.
Apart from that, I am helping a young handsome boy called Noah Malik who unfortunately is affected by cerebral Palsy. Noah attends professional therapy three days a week with help from a sponsor, then during the weekend I help with the therapy in a swimming pool, helping his joints and muscles to relax. He enjoys the moments in the pool. With the right care, love and attention surrounding him, Noah is bound make great progress.
I believe that quality education is the greatest gift you can ever give to your child; the fruits of that quality education are the key elements to a healthy and bright life for the future generation.
